Rudolf Wagner (local history researcher)

Rudolf Wagner (born December 21, 1937 in Aichach ; † March 4, 2012 ) was a German teacher, local history researcher and archivist.

Career

Wagner passed the Abitur at St. Stephan High School in Augsburg and studied to become a teacher at the Augsburg University of Education . After graduating, he was transferred to Kleinostheim in Lower Franconia, where he met his future wife. From 1963 he taught again in Swabia at the elementary schools in Schiltberg , Großhausen , Kühbach and Aichach . From 1986 onwards he was vice-principal of the Geschwister-Scholl-Hauptschule in Aichach. In 1999 he took early retirement for health reasons.

From 1970 until his death he was a volunteer district archivist in the Swabian district of Aichach-Friedberg . He looked after 74 archives of parishes and schools and took care of their recording and indexing. For the Aichacher Heimatverein, he set up the history regulars table in 1992. As an editor he wrote regularly for the Aichacher Heimatblatt and the yearbook Altbayern in Schwaben .

The widow Erika Wagner left his extensive reference library with 850 books to the district, which incorporated it into the Aichach district and local library.
