Rudolf Wettengel

Rudolf ("Rudi") Wettengel (born January 16, 1924 in Asch , Czechoslovakia ; † June 6, 1986 ) was a German SED functionary and journalist . He was editor-in-chief of the SED magazine Neuer Weg .

Life

Wettengel, the son of a weaver, visited the elementary and public school. He then also worked as a knitter in the knitwear factory in Sezemice and as a warehouse worker. In 1930 he joined the Red Pioneers , in 1937 he became a member of the Communist Youth Association. In 1942 he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service , from 1942 to 1945 he had to do military service in the Wehrmacht .

In 1945/46 he worked as a construction worker and accountant in Asch, in 1946 he was relocated to Aue with an Antifa transport . In 1947 he became a member of the SED. From 1947 to 1950 he was an employee and secretary of the SED local leadership in Crimmitschau , from 1948 to 1950 he also worked as an instructor for the SED regional leadership in Saxony .

In 1950 he attended the party college "Karl Marx" . From 1951 to 1953 he was editor , then from 1953 to 1956 deputy head of the party life department in the editorial office of the SED central organ New Germany . Between 1956 and 1958 Wettengel graduated from the CPSU party college in Moscow with a degree in social science . From 1959 to 1973 he worked as a department head of the Central Committee and as editor-in-chief of the magazine Neuer Weg . He also completed a correspondence course in journalism at the Leipzig College of Journalism (Berlin branch). Between 1973 and 1978 Wettengel represented the Central Committee of the SED in the editorial board of the magazine Problems of Peace and Socialism in Prague .

From 1978 to 1981 he was a personal assistant to Kurt Seibt , the chairman of the Central Revision Commission of the SED (ZRK). From 1981 to 1986 he was a candidate and research assistant at the ZRK.
