Rudolf Windisch (linguist)

Rudolf Windisch (born June 24, 1940 in Baden-Baden ) is a German linguist , Professor a. D., for Romance Linguistics at the University of Rostock .

Life

Rudolf Windisch studied Romance Philology , Protestant Theology , Romance Studies and Comparative / Indo-European Linguistics at the Universities of Bonn and Tübingen. His main research interests are the comparative history of the Romance languages, especially French, Spanish, Italian and Romanian. In 1972 he did his doctorate with Eugenio Coseriu at the University of Tübingen with the dissertation “Gender problems in Romansh. The neuter in Romanian ”. From 1972 to 1974 he was lecturer for the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) at the Facultate de Filosofie și Litere of the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj (Romania).

From 1975 until his habilitation in 1985 he worked as a research assistant at the chair of Hans-Martin Gauger , Romance seminar, University of Freiburg im Breisgau . In 1985 he completed his habilitation at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg with the thesis “Zum Sprachwandel. From Young Grammarians to Labov ”. From 1985 to 1995 he took over the representation of Romance departments. From 1995 to 2006 he was Professor of Romance Linguistics: French and Italian at the University of Rostock.
Since 2003 he has been Professor Asociat at the University of Oradea / Großwardein (Romania). From 2006 to 2009 he was Professor of German Studies at the University of Cluj-Napoca / Klausenburg / Kolozsvár (Romania).
