The Breitenlandenberg ruin is the ruin of a hilltop castle built on a plateau at 729 m above sea level. M. southeast above Turbenthal in the Swiss canton of Zurich .
The castle was founded by the Landenbergers in the early 14th century (see also Alt-Landenberg ruins and Hohenlandenberg ruins ).
It was a neighboring castle of the Landenbergs and was demolished at the beginning of the 19th century after the last owner from the Werdmüller family went bankrupt in 1801. Stones from the demolition were used to build the first cotton mill in Turbenthal. The remains of the foundation walls that are visible today were exposed in the winter of 1925/26.
