The list of castles and palaces in the canton of Zurich shows all castles and palaces in the canton of Zurich .
In the canton of Zurich there are 18 castles , one to come and 33 castles , for a total of 52 buildings. Most are open to the public and only a few are still privately owned. The first buildings were built around 850, but most of them during the 12th century . The last ones were built in the 19th century .
All information was taken from the respective articles. Otherwise, the information is supported by individual evidence.
Explanation of the list
- Name: Provides the official name of the building.
- Town: Shows the town in which the building is located.
- Year: Shows the year of manufacture. But mostly imprecise.
- Type: A distinction is made between the following building types: Castle , Coming and Palace .
- Condition: Describes the condition of the building. A distinction is made between “preserved”, “ruin” and “decayed”.
- Image: Displays a picture of the building if possible.
- Entrance: Tells of whether the building is publicly accessible. Background color green = "yes", red = "no"
- Noteworthy: Name a special feature of the building.
