Ruprecht Wimmer

Ruprecht Wimmer (born September 18, 1942 in Munich ) is a German German philologist and was president of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt for many years .

Life

After the Abitur studied Ruprecht Wimmer German and classical philology at the University of Munich on teaching , made the state exam in German, Latin and Greek. He then worked as a trainee teacher in Munich and as a university assistant at the universities of Munich and Münster (Westphalia) . In 1980 he completed his habilitation in Modern German Literature at the University of Münster. After teaching in Saint-Etienne ( France ), he was appointed professor for modern German literature at the Catholic University of Eichstätt in 1982 .

From 1993 to 1996 he was Vice President of the University of Eichstätt, from 1996 to 2008 he was its President.

Wimmer is married to Françoise and has two sons and a daughter.
