Ruth Koppenhöfer

Ruth Koppenhöfer (born September 18, 1922 in Heilbronn ; † 1994 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) was a German ceramic artist and member of Gruppe 83, founded in 1983/84 .

After graduating from high school in 1941, Koppenhöfer studied architecture at the TH Stuttgart from 1942 to 1944 (preliminary diploma) and from 1946 to 1949 (graduation). From 1951 to 1956 she worked as an architect. As a guest student, she attended the then independent State College for Ceramics in Höhr-Grenzhausen from 1956 to 1957 , and in 1957/58 she continued her education with Richard Bampi in Kandern .

In 1959 Koppenhöfer opened his own ceramic workshop in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and from 1973 organized annual workshop exhibitions. In the 1980s, she became increasingly involved with painting, especially with watercolor - and later also with the etching technique.
