geography

Rycerka Górna is located south of the city of Żywiec at the transition between the Silesian and Saybuscher Beskids and the Jablunkauer Uplands .

history

The first settlements emerged in the 17th century. In 1628 there were 19 houses in Rycerka. Around 1870 the village expanded towards the south, the settlements Rycerka Górna and in 1883 Rycerka Kolonia emerged. The Żywiec - Čadca (SK) railway line, completed in 1884, and the construction of the Rycerka station resulted in an expansion towards the north. The growing village was divided into Rycerka Górna and Dolna. In 1940, as part of the Saybusch campaign, several Polish families were expelled from the village.
