Rajcza is a village and seat of the rural community of the same name in the powiat Żywiecki in the Silesian Voivodeship and is located in the southwestern part of the district.

Geographical location

Rajcza is located at the transition from the Saybuscher Beskids to the Jablunkauer Bergland south of the city of Żywiec , on the border with Slovakia . The Soła River flows through the municipality and flows into the Vistula .

The village stretches in the valley of the Soła and its tributaries, between several mountain ranges: in the south Hutyrów (744 m), in the west Mała Zabawa (798 m) and Zabawa (823 m), in the north-east Sucha (1040 m) and in the east Cupel (666 m) and Wilczy Groń (668 m).

history

In 1608 Rajcza was mentioned with 11 farms. In 1669 Jan Kazimierz visited the village and donated a painting of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa to the future church, which he had allowed to be built. In November 1894, Rajcza was connected to the Żywiec - Čadca (SK) railway , which is part of the Krakow - Vienna line . In 1940 several families were expelled as part of the Saybusch campaign .
