Rynkeby Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) on the island of Fyn ( German : Funen ) in southern Denmark . Until 1970 she belonged to Harde Bjerge Herred in what was then Odense Amt , then to Kerteminde Municipality in Fyns Amt , which was merged into the "new" Kerteminde Municipality in the Syddanmark region as part of the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .
1135 inhabitants live in the parish, 598 of them in the parish (as of January 1, 2020). Neighboring municipalities are in the northeast Revninge Sogn , in the northwest Kølstrup Sogn and in the southwest Birkende Sogn , further in the east bordering Nyborg municipality in the southeast Ullerslev Sogn and in the east Flødstrup Sogn .
Rynkeby Kirke is located in the village , a medieval church that has been rebuilt several times and is known for its carefully restored frescoes, which were discovered in 1965 and located in the northern side chapel built in the 1560s. 32 angels are grouped around Jesus and his apostles, holding musical instruments in their hands. The paintings are important for the history of music because they show the musical instruments of the time with great accuracy, such as an organ with folding wings, a dulcimer and the oldest illustration of a Langeleik .
