As genus IIIb T designated Royal Saxon State Railways zweifachgekuppelte tank locomotives for the side rail . The Deutsche Reichsbahn classified the locomotives in the 98.72 series from 1925 .
history
The first vehicles were delivered to the Muldenthal railway company by the Berlin company Schwartzkopff . The Chemnitz-Aue-Adorfer Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (ChAA) procured a series of very similar locomotives from the Sächsische Maschinenfabrik (formerly Hartmann) in Chemnitz . Both series came to the Kgl a little later. Saxon. State Railways. Between 1889 and 1892, the company had a further 20 reinforced locomotives built in three series by the Saxon machine works.
The Deutsche Reichsbahn took over nine copies in 1925, two of them (98 7211 and 98 7212) from the former ChAA. These two vehicles had a lower boiler pressure (9 atmospheres ) and a length that was 200 mm shorter than the other seven locomotives.
The IIIb T were retired by the end of the 1920s. The former No. 1325 was still in operation as a factory locomotive for RAW Leipzig until 1934 .
