Sébastien Charlier (born October 25, 1971 in Beaumont-sur-Oise ) is a French musician who has emerged particularly on the harmonica in both jazz and light music. "Due to his perfect over-bending technique, his harmonica sounds like Stéphane Grappelli's violin ."

Live and act

Charlier has played the diatonic harmonica since childhood . From jazz-rock he came to jazz on the one hand, but also to other genres such as blues , folk or country . He learned numerous instruments such as the banjo , guitar , flutes , soprano saxophone . He began studying philosophy , but after a semester decided to become a professional musician.

Since 1990 Charlier has worked on many projects with the guitar virtuosos Yves Cutulic and Nicolas Espinasse . He also played with Didier Lockwood , Alain Caron , John Barry , Gilles Coquard and Stéphane Huchard . From 1997 to 2001 he worked as a demonstrator for Yamaha on the blow converter . In 2008 he performed with the Orchester national de Lyon under the direction of Péter Eötvös in the field of new music . He can also be heard as a studio musician on numerous albums and has written several textbooks.

The French trade magazine Jazzman recognized him in 2005 as a “new talent”.
