Síofra Cléirigh Büttner [ ˈʃiːfɾə ˈcl̠ʲeːɾʲɪɟ ] (born July 21, 1995 in Dublin ) is an Irish middle-distance runner who specializes in the 800-meter run .

Athletic career

Síofra Cléirigh Büttner gained her first international experience at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2011 in Trabzon , where she won the silver medal in the 1,500 meter run in 4: 26.42 minutes . The following year she reached the semi-finals at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona over 800 meters, in which she was eliminated with 2: 06.70 min. In 2013 she was eighth at the Junior European Championships in Rieti in 2: 06.23 min and in 2014 she was eliminated in the first round of the Junior World Championships in Eugene over 800 and 1500 meters. In 2016 she qualified for the European Championships for the first timein Amsterdam , where she was eliminated with 2: 04.97 minutes in the lead. The following year she finished seventh at the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz in 2: 06.40 min and was sixth in the Irish 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 34.87 min. She also took part in the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated in the preliminary round with 2: 06.54 min . At the European Championships in Berlin the following year, she was eliminated with 2: 02.80 minutes in the first round. In 2019 she reached seventh place at the Summer Universiade in Naples in 2: 03.20 min.

In 2016 Cléirigh Büttner became the Irish champion in the 800-meter run outdoors and in 2019 indoors.
