society

Özkefe started club football in the youth department of Eskişehir Șekerspor (according to other information in the youth department of Eskişehir Işıkspor ). Here he was nominated in 1958 in the squad of the Turkish U-18 national team. Thanks to this nomination, he caught the attention of those in charge of Ankara Demirspor , the company sports club of the Turkish state railway company , and was hired in the summer of 1958.

He also began his military service in Etimesgut , a district of Ankara, and completed it with the Turkish Air Force . During his military service, he played for both Ankara Demirspor and the Turkish national military team. Since there was no transnational league in Turkey at that time, there were various regional leagues in the metropolitan areas, of which the Ankara Futbol Ligi ( Ankara Football League ) was one of the most renowned in the country after the Istanbul League. With Demirspor as the capital city club Özkefe took part in the competition of this league. With this club he won the last championship of this league in his first season, the 1958/59 season .

From the spring of 1959 he played with Demirspor in the newly founded and nationwide Millî Lig , now known as Süper Lig . This newly founded league replaced the most important regional leagues, including İstanbul Profesyonel Ligi and Ankara Futbol Ligi. The first season was played from February 1959 to June 1959 and ended with the championship of Fenerbahçe Istanbul . Demirspor took 3rd place behind the top of the table. As a youngster, Özkefe played 13 of the 14 possible games of his team. In the second season he finished with his club in the league in fifth place.

In the summer of 1962 he was from Istanbul league rivals Beşiktaş Istanbul . At this club he made it into the regular formation straight away and also rose to the position of Turkish national team player. With his team he finished the first season as third in the table. In his second season he played with his club until the last day of the Turkish championship and gave it to arch rivals Galatasaray Istanbul on the last day of the game . Also in the season 1963/64 he played again with his club until the last matchday for the championship and awarded it to Fenerbahçe Istanbul on the last matchday .

Before the 1964/65 season, Özkefe spent his summer vacation in his hometown Eskişehir. During a night drive home, the taxi in which Özkefe was the passenger came off the road and rolled over several times. In this accident, Özkefe sustained several serious injuries, including a. multiple fractures and severe bruises. Because of these injuries, he was out almost the entire season and completed the last three league games of his team from mid-May 1954. This remained in the championship without much chance, but ended in the then existing two-point system with six points behind the champion Fenerbahçe as runner-up. As a result, he was also a member of the first team in Turkish football, which became Turkish runners-up three times in a row. In the 1965/66 season, Özkefe and his team finally prevailed in the championship and became Turkish champions with a six-point advantage over runner-up Galatasaray. Özkefe completed 22 of the possible 30 league games this season. Özkefe and his team won the TSYD Istanbul Cup and the Spor Toto Cup this season . The following season he and his team also managed to defend their title in the championship, the first in the club's history. His team also won the President's Cup this season , an earlier version of the later Turkish Supercup . The next three seasons Özkefes team missed the Turkish championship and won the Spor Toto Cup twice.

In the summer of 1970, Özkefe left Beşiktaş after eight years and moved to the league rivals and the sports club in his hometown, Eskişehirspor . With this reigning Turkish runner-up, he quickly established himself as a regular player. At the end of the season he and his team won the Turkish Cup and the President's Cup. In his second season for Eskişehirspor he lost his regular place, but ended the season with his team as runner-up. For the 1972/73 season his club loaned him to the second division team Demir Çelik Karabükspor . According to his own account, he played football until the summer of 1974 and ended his career. It is not known whether he spent the last year of his career at Eskişehirspor.

National team

Özkefe began his national team career in April 1958 with a commitment for the Turkish U-18 national team. In the same year he completed six more U-18 internationals.

With his move to Beşiktaş Istanbul , he was also appointed for the Turkish national team. He made his debut on October 8, 1961 in a friendly against the Romanian national team . In 1962 he also made his debut for the Turkish U-21 national team and the B national team.
