The ЭД2T ( ED2T ) is a railcar of the Rossijskije schelesnyje dorogi built by the Demichowo machine factory and is used specifically for suburban traffic. It belongs to a series of electric multiple units for direct current drive with a recuperation brake and a body length of 22,056 mm. It was developed on the basis of the box of the SŽD series ЭР29 . Originally it was to be built as the gasР24 series of the Rīgas Vagonbūves Rūpnīca , but it was ultimately designed as the ЭД2T (ED2T) series, where the letter T means the use of the recuperation brake.

history

As early as the early 1980s, the Demichowo machine factory decided to manufacture railcars based on the Rīgas Vagonbūves Rūpnīca . The plant used to specialize in the manufacture of narrow-gauge vehicles . Later the factory was re-profiled to produce additional sidecars for the railcars of the Rīgas Vagonbūves Rūpnīca. The length of the box with 21.6 m should correspond to the family of the ЭР29 . The collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990s forced the plant to also manufacture vehicles for direct current instead of the planned ЭР24 series, including motor vehicles.

The first experimental unit to receive the ЭД (ED) series was manufactured in 1993. They were sidecars that were used for the 10-car unit of the ЭР2T-7233 of the Rīgas Vagonbūves Rūpnīca. This vehicle was until 2010 the depot Schelesnodoroschnaja operated. The bodies of the car were made in analogy to those of the SŽD series ЭР29, they exceeded the length of those of the SŽD series ЭР2 by two meters. The passenger compartment of the vehicles was slightly longer than in the ЭР2 series, and the vestibules were more spacious and had wider doors. As a result, the typing of the vehicles was fundamentally changed, which aroused a great deal of attention among passengers, especially at peak times. Later the plant delivered all vehicles of the type ЭД (ED), which were to be used for the units of the electric trains ЭР2P and ЭР2T as well as for the future ЭД2 and ЭД4 .

In 1993 the first electric hoist with the designation ЭД2T.0001 was manufactured. The number 2 was used by all plants in analogy with the ЭР2 series as a vehicle for direct current, the letter T meant the use of the recuperation brake. The train was composed of two control cars and three trailer cars with a length of 21.5 m from the production of the Demichowo machine factory, five cars with a length of 19.6 m from the production of the Rīgas Vagonbūves Rūpnīca were used as motor cars, these differentiated do not differ from those of the ЭР2T. The extended boxes of the control cars and their cabins differed slightly from those of the ЭР2 and corresponded exactly to those of the SŽD series ЭР29 . The electrical equipment of the vehicles came from the Riga electrical machine plant and corresponded to the electrical equipment of the ЭР2T. The inspection of the prototype was carried out from November to December 1993 at the same time as the ЭТ2 electric train from the Tver wagon factory . For operation, the ЭД2T.0001 was then given to the Pererwa depot of the Moskovskaya seleznaja doroga for servicing the direction to Kursk , whereby it was decided to procure several trains of the ЭД2T. This is how the ЭД2T.0002 was created and received by the Yaroslavl - Glawni depot . In addition, two control cars and three trailer cars for the trains ЭД2T.0003 to 2Д2T.0005 were manufactured by the Demichowo machine factory, the motor cars were of the type ЭР2T and were taken from the current fleet. These three trains were first given to the Pererwa depot , later they were also used on other Russian railway lines.

Soon after, the Demichowo machine factory produced the first complete electric hoist ЭД2T with the inventory number 0006 . All of the wagons on the train were manufactured by the Demichowo machine factory and had a box length of 21.5 m. The delivery of this train marked the start of serial production of the ЭД2T trains. The electrical equipment for the trains was still manufactured by the Riga electrical machine plant. For the most part, the ЭР2T's electrical equipment was used with minor changes. Mainly the shape of the driving switch was changed, it was made in the shape of a handwheel. The electrical equipment was also changed in such a way that compressors installed in sidecars could also be switched on. Supplementary switches for switching on high-voltage connections were also installed.

Fate of trains

The majority of the trains were given to the Pererwa depot of the Moskovskaya zheleznaya doroga to serve the direction to Kursk. There they replaced the railcars of the SŽD series ЭР22 . The Demichowo machine factory delivered a total of 54 units with the most varied number of wagons, the units were given the inventory numbers 0001-0054 . Of these units, the motor vehicles of the first five units delivered were from the production of the Rīgas Vagonbūves Rūpnīca . In addition, nine sections with the designation 0104-0110, 1005, 1007 supplementary cars were delivered, these could consist of control cars, intermediate trailer cars and motor cars, they were intended for the formation of electric trains on the basis of individual cars. Four individual sidecars with the inventory numbers 008П ( 008P ), 009П ( 009P ), 015П ( 015P ) and 016П ( 016P ) as well as a motor car ЭД4M -2003 were also produced. When forming the trains, additional sidecars of the ЭД were used and also the motor cars of the trains ЭР2T from the production of the Rīgas Vagonbūves Rūpnīca. The majority of the supplementary cars are in working order.

The last ЭД2T trains were manufactured for Russia in 1999, in 2002 the Ukrzalisnyzja commissioned the production of sections 1005 and 1007 , and in 2004 a supplementary motor vehicle of the type wagenД4M with the inventory number 2003 was built . This happened in connection with the changeover of the plant to the production of the RŽD series ЭД4 . At that time, the Demichowo machine factory changed to the delivery of the ЭД4M train with a changed driver's cab and electrical equipment from Russia from the production of the Novocherkassk electric locomotive factory and other factories, this production continues to this day.
