The SG Finnentrop / Bamenohl (officially: Sportgemeinschaft Finnentrop / Bamenohl 12/27 eV ) is a football club from Finnentrop in the Olpe district . The men's first team has been playing in the Oberliga Westfalen since 2020 .
history
The association was founded on June 12, 1972 when the SuS Bamenohl association, founded in 1912, merged with Spvg Finnentrop , founded in 1927 . Both clubs were relegated to the district class in 1970 and 1971. In 1981 he was promoted to the district league, which, however, was followed by direct relegation. It was not until 1990 that he was promoted to the district league again. This time the team was able to establish itself and achieved third place in 1994. Nevertheless, things went down again in 1998 in the district league A.
In 2005 the SG Finnentrop / Bamenohl rose again to the district league and in 2011 made it to the state league for the first time . Four years later, the SG was runner-up there behind SpVg Olpe and rose to the Westphalia League. The club was relegated straight away, but managed to get promoted again in the 2017/18 season. In the 2019/20 season, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic , SG Finnentrop / Bamenohl rose through an association decision as the designated league leader in the Oberliga Westfalen.
