SL Rasch GmbH Special and Lightweight Structures is an interdisciplinary architecture office that specializes in the planning and manufacture of special constructions and lightweight structures. The company was founded by Mahmoud Bodo Rasch . The most famous projects include the convertible large umbrellas in front of the Prophet's mosque in Medina and the clock tower on the Makkah Clock Tower .

history

Mahmoud Bodo Rasch founded the Rasch & Associates office in 1980 and the company Sonderkonstruktionen und Leichtbau GmbH in 1991. In 1998, Rasch's longstanding chief architect, Jürgen Bradatsch, became a partner in the Rasch und Bradatsch architectural office. The company has been operating as SL Rasch GmbH Special and Lightweight Structures since 1998.

The founder Mahmoud Bodo Rasch studied with Frei Otto , worked in the Frei Otto Warmbronn studio and at the Institute for Lightweight Structures at the University of Stuttgart. In team SL-Rasch researching and working architects , engineers , computer scientists , designers , media designers , modelers , art historian , Ornamentalisten , filmmakers , historians , linguists , scholars of religion , physicists and philosophers interdisciplinary under one roof.

They develop structures with Frei Otto's claim to continuously optimize every construction technically and aesthetically. The department for Islamic Design brings these constructions in line with the forms of jewelry necessary in the context of sacred or sovereign buildings.

SL Rasch specializes in the development, construction and production of large umbrellas and convertible roofs. The foundation of the work is basic research and the development of specific software .

The company has a high-performance computing facility and currently employs around 250 people in Germany and Saudi Arabia .
