The SK Kladno is a Czech football club from the Central Bohemian town of Kladno . The club, founded in 1903, was first class from 1925–1947, 1948/49, 1952–1958, 1960–1965 and 1969/70. In 1976 the club reached the final of the Czech Cup and lost to Sparta Prague 1: 4. In 2006, after 36 years, they returned to the first division, from which the team was relegated again at the end of the 2009/10 season.
Club history
SK Kladno is one of the oldest sports and football clubs in the Czech Republic. Especially before the Second World War , but also shortly afterwards, he belonged to the top of Czechoslovak football and provided numerous national players. In 1915 he was defeated in the final of the Charity Cup Sparta Prague, in 1919 he was second in the championship of the ČSF.
In 1934 and 1938 the SK Kladno took part in the Mitropapokal . In 1947 Kladno had to leave the first division due to match-fixing, but returned a year later. In 1949, as bottom of the table, the sporting descent followed, in 1952 the SK Kladno managed to return.
From relegation in 1970, the club did not recover properly and spent the following decade in the 2nd division, which he had to leave down in 1981. It was not until 1988/89 that Kladno won the group in the third division and was thus at least second class again. In 1992/93 the team was bottom of the table, but the division of Czechoslovakia kept them in the 2nd division of the newly formed Czech Republic . Like many other Czech clubs, Kladno now had to get along without the support of a state-owned company, in the case of Kladno, the Poldi steelworks. The financially bad situation was exacerbated by the bankruptcy of the new owner Air Terrex of the entrepreneur Martin Michal, who had previously unsuccessfully tried to move up to the first division with the second division team Xaverov Praha , renamed 1. FC Terrex Praha.
The 3rd league could not be held without sponsors, and in 1997 it was relegated to the 4th league, and the club had reached its sporting low point. It was not until 2000 that they were promoted to the third division, but they could only hold out there for one season. Before the 2003/04 season, SK Kladno merged with FK Neratovice , took over its second division license and had thus skipped two leagues. The president was the Social Democratic MP Michal Kraus, through whose relationships the financing of the association was made considerably easier. If the Central Bohemia failed in the following two years in each case to rise to the Gambrinus League , this succeeded in a sovereign manner in the 2005/06 season. However, the club was relegated again in 2010, but this time could not hold up in the second division and ended the 2010/11 season as relegated, so that SK only plays third-rate in the 2011/12 season.

Club names
The SK Kladno was founded on February 15, 1903 as Sportovní kroužek Kladno. In 1904 the club was renamed SK (Sportovní klub) Kladno. After a merger with Sparta Kladno and STAK Letná in 1948, the association was called ZSJ SONP Kladno, from 1949 Sokol SONP Kladno, from 1953 DSO Baník Kladno, from 1958 TJ SONP Kladno, from 1960 TJ Baník Kladno, from 1961 again TJ SONP Kladno. In 1977 it was renamed TJ Poldi SONP Kladno, and in 1989 another name was TJ Poldi Kladno. In 1993 the club was called 1. FC Terrex Kladno, in 1994 FC Agrox Kladno. In 1995 they returned to the original name SK Kladno.
