Men's soccer

The club played soon after its founding from 1921 to 1925 in the Upper Austrian regional league , which was the highest national level at the time.

For the first time in 1945 this division could be reached again. The second place in the 1950 season brought the club promotion to the B-League , the second highest Austrian professional league. The ASK Sparta Linz escaped relegation in the 1950/51 season only thanks to the better goal difference, the Linz 1951/52 had to return to the national league as bottom of the table. During this time, the name was changed in 1954 to SV nitrogen Linz in connection with the commitment of the Österreichische nitrogen works AG .

Under a new name, nitrogen promptly came second in the regional league and, by winning the regional league just one year later, in 1956, got the chance to return to the B-league. In the relegation round, the club met SV Mattersburg , who were defeated 5: 0 and 3: 4. In the first B-League season 1956/57 , nitrogen still played against relegation, in both 1957/58 and 1958/59 the relegation place to the A-League was only missed by a single point. But in 1959/60 the Linzers were able to win the meanwhile newly created Middle Regional League well ahead of Kapfenberger SV and thus move up directly to the A-League, today's Bundesliga . They caused a sensation in particular in the ÖFB Cup : After victories over SC Bruck an der Mur and FC Wien , they faced big local rivals LASK from the A-League in the quarter-finals , who on May 26, 1960 - despite 2: 4- Break backlog - it was still sensationally beaten 5: 4. In the semifinals against Rapid they almost created a sensation after a quick 2-0 lead on June 15, 1960, only a few minutes before the end of the game Robert Dienst was able to fix the record champions' 4-3 victory with his goal.

In the following years, nitrogen competed in the highest Austrian league with veterans like Turl Wagner and Leopold Barschandt from the 54 team and had two active national players in its own ranks: Oskar Kohlhauser and Franz Viehböck . The SV nitrogen Linz played a total of four seasons first class, until 1963/64 the unfortunate relegation followed. The SV Kapfenberg moved only on the final day by a home defeat of the Linz against the first Schwechat SC despite two guide and a simultaneous away win against 1. Wiener Neustädter SC over. Nevertheless, in four years the Linz team were able to achieve first class with three Derby wins alone in eight encounters with LASK, including a 6: 4 (June 16, 1962), as well as a 2: 1 victory on the Pfarrwiese on September 23, 1961 Celebrate achievements. Best placement was an 8th place in the 1961/62 season with 14 teams. In the period that followed, the club established itself in the midfield of the second-rate regional league center and, until the new start in 1973, took part continuously in the second level as SV Chemie Linz in the third class center.

Chemistry experienced an incredible march from the last division to the third division national league and was able to celebrate five championship titles in a row. In the state league, however, the luck ran out of Linz - five times in a row they only came second and thus narrowly missed the return to professional football. But in the 1986/87 season it finally worked with winning the third-class national league before SK Eintracht Wels . In the relegation to the 2nd division , however, the club got stuck with Kapfenberger SV and SV Rapid Lienz . In 1988/89 , winning the championship in front of SV Ried gave me another chance for promotion, but this time there was no getting past LUV Graz in the relegation . Chemie withdrew from the championship for the time being and concentrated on youth football. Only since 2003 has the club been represented again with a fighting team in the 2nd class. On November 23, 2017, the decision was made to change the name of the outsourced football team to SV Franckviertel Linz. At the Annual General Meeting on December 4, 2017, the club name SV Chemie Linz was changed to ASKÖ SV Franckviertel Linz.
