SWF4 Rhineland-Palatinate was the fourth radio program of the Südwestfunk . It existed from December 1, 1991 to August 30, 1998, its successor is called SWR4 Rheinland-Pfalz .

Although it was musically aligned in the same way as S4 Baden-Württemberg , the word share was much higher. SWF4 hosted its own program every day from 5 a.m. to midnight and was continued under the name SWR4 Rhineland-Palatinate after the station merger in 1998. During the night, SWF4 broadcast the ARD night program.

SWF1 in particular used the introduction of SWF4 Rhineland-Palatinate to position its program more clearly as a pop and oldie wave. German hits and folk music programs (hit parade from Mainz) quickly migrated to the fourth program.

SWF4 switched to its regional studios in Koblenz, Trier, Kaiserslautern and Mainz several times a day.
