The Saab 9-4X is the second SUV from Saab . The vehicle shares the technical platform with the second generation of the Cadillac SRX .

It was first introduced at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2008 . The Saab 9-4X should be available as a BioPower model by the end of 2010. It was only after the takeover by Spyker that it became known that the 9-4X was being retained, but that it would not be delivered until 2011.

The vehicle built in Ramos Arizpe , Mexico, was due to hit the German market in September 2011 . However, the market launch was postponed again to the beginning of 2012.

In the USA, sales began in June 2011. However, only 457 copies were made before General Motors ceased production in November.

Two petrol engines with 195 kW (265 hp) and 221 kW (300 hp) were available at the start of sales. A diesel model was not planned.
