Trademark of ScanAuto's Horizon distribution in Finland

The Horizon was a Saab-Valmet built car based on the Talbot Horizon .

Production began in Finland in early 1979 . The vehicles manufactured by Saab-Valmet were only sold in Finland by Scan-Auto, a 50% subsidiary of Saab-Scania. The model name Horizon was raised to a brand name for this. The trademark corresponded to that of Saab , only it was red instead of blue and contained the words "Horizon".

Externally, the Saab-Valmet Horizon differed mainly in the safety bumpers known from Saab . There was also the obligatory headlight wiper system. The tailgate was framed by wind deflectors, which made a rear wiper superfluous. The chassis was reinforced and the wheel arches were protected by plastic inner fenders .

There were the model variants GL (1294 cm³, 67 PS), GLS (1442 cm³, 85 PS) and Petro (1442 cm³, 60 PS). The engine of the Horizon Petro was only 7,8: 1 compressed. This allowed him to run on kerosene . However, he needed regular gasoline to start and accelerate . He therefore had two tanks, one with 45 liters for motor kerosene and one with 12 liters for gasoline.

The interior differed in the versions from July 1982 by front seats, which were modeled on those of Saab. The upholstery fabrics, seams and paint colors also corresponded to the Saab models.

In the summer of 1982 the Horizon received a facelift. A Peugeot diesel engine was also available last year. An extended version that is in the factory museum remained a unique piece.

Production stopped in early 1987. Since Saab needed the capacity alone in the second half of the 1980s, it was a good fit that brand owner PSA wanted to take Talbot off the market. Scan-Auto replaced the Horizon with the sale of Seat vehicles.
