Saar Klein
Saar Klein (* 1967 in Israel ) is an American film editor .
Life
Saar Klein was born in Israel and moved to New York with his family when he was 10 years old . He received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Vassar College in 1989 . He then cut industrial films in New York . Since Klein's mother was friends with the editor's mother, Joe Hutshing , Saar Klein was given the opportunity in 1991 to assist Hutshing in editing JFK - Tatort Dallas , a political thriller by Oliver Stone . Klein then moved completely to Los Angeles , where he devoted himself to his film career and was able to prove his first independent film editing with the television film PCH in 1995 .
In 1998, when he was editing the Terrence Malick- produced Endurance , an athlete film about the Ethiopian long-distance runner Haile Gebrselassie , Malick was shooting The Thin Line in Australia . He wrote a letter with his ideas for the editing of the film to Malick and was then invited by his wife to meet Malick personally. Because Malick was enthusiastic about Klein's ideas, he hired him to edit The Narrow Ridge . With this film editing, Klein was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Editing for the first time in 1999. In 2001 he received another nomination for editing Almost Famous .
