Reisbach is a part of the municipality Saarwellingen in the district of Saarlouis in Saarland . Until the regional and administrative reform in Saarland in 1974 , Reisbach was an independent municipality.

location

Reisbach is located on the southern foothills of the Hoxberg . The old castle is located north of Labach .

history

The Reisbach community was founded on April 1, 1937 as a merger of the towns of Reisweiler and Labach . The name of the new municipality is composed of the names of the two places as a suitcase word . The first written mention of the place Reisweiler was in 1154. The name is composed of Radi (Germanic village chief, clan father) and the suffix -ville , which means something like farmland or settlement . Reisweiler was thus the farmland of the Radi or Radis settlement . Labach was first mentioned in the thirteenth century as Loubach . The name Labach is made up of Loup (leaves) and Bach , so Labach is the Laubbach .

On January 1, 1974 Reisbach, Schwarzenholz and Saarwellingen were merged to form Saarwellingen .

politics

The current mayor is Felix Hedrich ( SPD , since 2019). His predecessors were Heinrich Bauer ( CDU , 2004–2019), Alfred Bettscheider (CDU, 1989–2004), Johann Schneider ( FDP , 1979–1989) and Rudolf Birringer (CDU, 1974–1979). Before the territorial reform in 1974, Reisbach was an independent municipality. The last mayor was Leopold Schneider as the successor to Theodor Klein.

The upper field stands for Labach, with the quarter circle of the Abbey of Fraulautern ; the lower field for Reisweiler, with the anchor cross of the Lords of Bolchen .

Community partnerships

  • Reisbach maintains a partnership with the Reisbach market of the same name in Lower Bavaria.

Economy and Infrastructure

At the time of industrialization , Reisbach was considered a mining village, since most of the local men worked as miners and part-time farmers. Currently there are only a few full-time farmers left. Most of the residents work in the service industry. A general practitioner, a dentist, two car workshops, a waste disposal company, a supermarket, various restaurants, an agricultural trade and other businesses are located in the village. Next to the primary school there is a multi-purpose hall ( Lohwieshalle ), which is used by the sports and cultural associations, an artificial turf field and tennis courts.

The parish center of St. Marien is located in Reisweiler, with a parish church, parsonage and a new parish hall.

Because of the coal mining under the place, the church was mounted on hydraulic cylinders as a safety measure to compensate for the earth movements. In the run-up to this renovation, an emergency church was built, which is now used as a parish hall and assembly room.
