Sadie Maubet Bjornsen (born November 21, 1989 in Omak ) is an American cross-country skier .

Career

Until 2011 Bjornsen mainly participated in the Nor-Am Cup and the US Super Tour. She ran her first World Cup race in Drammen in February 2011 , which she finished classically with 51st place over 10 km. Her best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo were 24th place in the sprint and ninth place in the team sprint. At the US cross-country skiing championships in Rumford in 2011, she won gold over 10 km classic and bronze in the sprint. In December 2011 she finished second in the team sprint together with Kikkan Randall in the World Cup . At the US cross-country skiing championships in Midway in 2013, she won gold twice and silver twice. Her best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme were 32nd place in the sprint and fourth place in the relay. In December 2013 she reached seventh place over 10 km classic and thus her best individual result in the World Cup. Her best placements at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi were 18th place over 10 km classic and ninth place with the relay. She won gold in the 30 km mass start race at the 2014 US Cross Country Ski Championships in Kincaid Park. Her best results at the 2015 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun were 19th place in the sprint and fourth place in the relay. After 14th place at the Nordic Opening in Ruka at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, she was third in the relay in Lillehammer . She finished the 2016 Tour de Ski in 14th place. Seventh place in the sprint stage in Lenzerheide was her best place. At the following World Cup in Nové Město , she won second place with the relay. At the end of the season she came in 11th place in the Ski Tour Canada and reached 14th place in the overall, sprint and distance world cup. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season, she finished 11th in the World Cup mini tour in Lillehammer. At the Tour de Ski 2016/17 , which she ended prematurely, she achieved third place over 5 km freestyle in Toblach . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2017 , she won the bronze medal together with Jessica Diggins in the team sprint. She also took 23rd place over 10 km classic and fourth place with the relay. At the end of the season she was tenth in the overall ranking at the World Cup finals in Québec and reached 23rd place in the Sprint World Cup, 17th place in the Distance World Cup and 16th place in the overall World Cup.

After finishing second in the sprint stage of the Ruka Triple, which she finished in tenth place at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, she finished third in the sprint in Lillehammer . In the Tour de Ski 2017/18 she achieved ninth place overall with four top ten placements, including third place over 10 km classic in Lenzerheide . Her best placements at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang were 14th in the sprint and fifth in the relay. At the World Cup finals in Falun she took third place and finally reached tenth place in the distance world cup, eighth place in the sprint world cup and sixth place in the overall world cup. At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, she came third in the sprint at the Lillehammer Triple, which she finished in tenth place. In the further course of the season she reached four top ten finishes in World Cup sprints and 11th place in the World Cup finals in Québec. Her best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol were 15th place in the 30 km mass start race and fifth place in the relay and in the team sprint. She finished the season in 14th place in the overall World Cup, 13th in the Distance World Cup and eighth in the Sprint World Cup. At the beginning of April 2019, she became US champion in the mass start race over 30 km freestyle in Presque Isle . After third place in the sprint at the Ruka Triple, which she finished in fourth place, she was second in the relay in Lillehammer. She finished seventh in the Tour de Ski 2019/20 and tenth in the ski tour and finally reached 13th place in the Distance World Cup, tenth place in the Sprint World Cup and eighth place in the overall World Cup.
