Sadistik Forest is a Finnish death metal band from Oulu and Sonkajärvi that was founded in 2007.

history

The band was formed in the summer of 2007 by guitarist Antti Heikkinen, inspired by Possessed's comeback appearances . His friends Jarkko Lahtinen on electric guitar, Vesa Mutka on drums and Markus Makkonen on bass and singer joined them as further members. All members had previously played in other bands for ten years. Since Lahtinen did not have enough time to be permanently active there, he soon left them and the group continued as a trio. In the summer of 2009, the debut album was recorded under the direction of Samu Männikkö , before the group signed a recording deal with Violent Journey Records . For the release of this self-titled album, the group was seen at the Jalometalli Festival in August 2010 , with Matti Salo as the new guitarist. This was followed by further concerts all over Europe and in 2012 the second album Death, Doom, Radiation via Violent Journey Records . The recordings for this took place in the SJEP Studios from August to November 2011. Shortly thereafter, a split release with the Russian band Septory followed in 2013 on the US label Horror Pain Gore Death Productions from Philadelphia . In 2015 the band again took part in the Jalometalli Festival.

style

Luxi Lahtinen from voicesfromthedarkside.de wrote in his review of Death, Doom, Radiation that you can hear classic Death Metal on it. The group is similar to other young Finnish bands like Vorum , Krypts and Swallowed , who also play death metal in the old-school style. The music is "heavy", brutal and aggressive, the singing it contains is guttural and screeching and reminds of that of Antti Boman von Demilich . Steff from steffmetal.com also reviewed the album. She also referred to the music as death metal, with down-tuned instruments and music in the medium speed range, which reminds of Mordicus and early Grave and is based on the style of the 1990s.
