Saenara Motor Company (in German Neues Land ) was a South Korean manufacturer of automobiles .

history

Park No-jeong founded the company in Incheon in August 1962 . Saenara received a $ 35 million loan and technical assistance from Nissan . First the government agreed to import 400 Datsun Bluebirds, which were sold as Saenara Taxi . This severely affected the taxi business for Sibal and is seen as the reason for the decline of the Gukje Motors Company . In November 1962, the production of automobiles from CKD kits of the Datsun Bluebird (310) began . This had a four-cylinder engine with 1189 cc displacement and 55 hp . Saenara was the first Korean automobile manufacturer to have modern production facilities. The factory was designed for a capacity of 6000 vehicles per year. Production fell well short of expectations, and Saenara's vehicles could not compete with foreign models in terms of price or quality. So the government raised the price to something twice the cost of production. Production ended in May 1963 when the company went bankrupt. A total of 2773 vehicles were built.

In 1965 Shinjin Motors took over the company with support from the South Korean government.
