The Sai ( Russian Зай ) is a left tributary of the Kama in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan .
The river has its source on the Bugulma-Belebeier Heights in the Bugulma district . In the upper reaches he is called Степной Зай ( Stepnoi Sai , "Steppen-Sai"). Only 64 km above the mouth, at Sainsk after the confluence of the Лесной Зай ( Lesnoi Sai , "Forest Sai"), the river bears the name Sai . The river flows in a predominantly north-northwest direction. It flows through the city of Almetyevsk . It finally flows 7 km southwest of Nizhnekamsk into the lower reaches of the Kama, which is dammed up to form the Kuibyshev reservoir .
The Sai has a length of 219 km. Its catchment area covers an area of 5020 km².
