Saigawa ( Japanese 犀 川 町 , - machi ) was a city in Miyako-gun in the Japanese prefecture of Fukuoka .

history

The Mura Saigawa ( 犀 川村 , -mura ) was created on February 1, 1905 from the merger of the Mura Higashisaigawa ( 東 犀 川村 , -mura , German East Saigawa ), Nishisaigawa ( 西 犀 川村 , -mura , German West Saigawa ) and Minamisaigawa ( 南 犀 川村 , -mura , German South Saigawa ).

On February 11, 1943, Saigawa was promoted to Machi.

On September 30, 1956, the Mura Kii ( 城 井村 , -mura ) and Irahara ( 伊 良 原 村 , -mura ) were incorporated.

On March 20, 2006, Saigawa merged with Katsuyama and Toyotsu to form the new Machi Miyako .
