Sainerholz is a district of the local community Ötzingen in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate .

General

The place is at the foot of the Beulstein, an approximately 480 m high volcanic cone , and about three kilometers north of Ötzingen , the larger town in the municipality .

Up until the end of the Second World War, a beacon for flight navigation was installed on the Beulstein , from which you can still see the concrete base and the control building. From this facility and the cycling club, which existed from the beginning of the 1920s until the Second World War, the place also got its nickname "Sackablitz".

Sainerholz itself is almost purely a residential area, there are only a few companies, including a manufacturer of train protection systems, a construction company and a landscaping company.

Sainerholz was an independent municipality in the Oberwesterwaldkreis until it was incorporated into the municipality of Ötzingen on March 20, 1971 as part of the administrative reform . Hence the fact that Sainerholz has a different area code than Ötzingen and also belongs to a different parish .

Worth seeing in the area of the village is the association water of the ASV with the attached nature reserve, which is located on the site of a disused clay pit, and the "Habbalse Buch", an old beech tree in the forest towards Arnshöfen .

Meeting points in the village are the restaurant “Zum Beulstein” and the village park.
