Sainte-Marie is a city ( ville ) and capital of the MRC La Nouvelle-Beauce in the Canadian province of Québec .

The city is located 55 km south-southeast of the provincial capital Québec on the east bank of the Rivière Chaudière . In 2006 it had a total of 11,700 inhabitants and has an area of ​​106.65 km².

history

Saint-Marie was founded in 1736 by Thomas-Jacques Taschereau . In 1958, Sainte-Marie received city rights.
