The Sait Faik Literature Prize for novella ( Turkish Sait Faik hikaye Armağanı ) is one of the most important literary prizes of Turkey . It was founded in 1955 by a decree by Makbule Abasiyanik (mother of Sait Faik) and is named after the Turkish writer and short story teller Sait Faik (1906–1954). The literary prize is awarded annually by the Darüşşafaka and various sponsors on the day of death, May 11th, at the suggestion of a jury; from 1960 to 1964, 1981, 1982 and 1993 there was no award. The writers Necati Cumalı , Tarık Dursun K. , Adnan Özyalçıner and Orhan Kemal each received two awards.
