Salix baileyi is a tree from the genus of willow ( Salix ) with green or reddish, bare branches and up to 7.5 centimeters long leaf blades. The natural range of the species is in China.

description

Salix baileyi is a tree with a gray, furrowed bark . The branches are green or reddish and bare. Stipules are absent or very small. The leaves have a 1 centimeter long stem. The leaf blade is about 7.5 inches long, 1.3 inches wide, lanceolate, widest in the middle, long pointed, with a narrowed leaf base and sawn leaf margin. The upper side of the leaf is green, the underside is pale green.

Male inflorescences are not known. The female inflorescences are about 5 centimeters long, 1 centimeter in diameter, cylindrical, sedentary or short-stalked kitten with shaggy hairy inflorescence axis. The bracts are hairy white and shaggy with a reddish brown tip. Female flowers have an elongated nectar gland. The ovary is egg-shaped, long stalks and bare. The stylus is long, the stigma has two columns. Salix baileyi blooms before or almost as the leaves shoot in March.

Occurrence and location requirements

The natural range is about 500 to 600 meters above sea level in the Chinese provinces of Anhui , Henan , Hubei and Jiangxi .

Systematics

Salix baileyi is a kind from the kind of willow ( Salix ), in the family of the pasture plants (Salicaceae). There she is assigned to the Daphnella section . It was first scientifically described in 1920 by Camillo Karl Schneider . The generic name Salix comes from Latin and was already used by the Romans for various types of willow.
