Salman Əlizadə ( Russian Салман Ализаде Salman Alisade , English Salman Alizade ) (born December 1, 1993 ) is an amateur boxer from Azerbaijan .

successes

Salman Əlizadə won the light flyweight silver medal in 2008 at the European Cadet Championships in Plovdiv and in 2010 the gold medal at the Junior World Championships in Baku . On the way to the title he beat Mycol Tello from Guyana, Stefan Caslarov from Romania, Wadsim Kirylenka from Belarus, Sahidjon Churbojew from Uzbekistan and Ryan Burnett from Ireland.

He scored another success in August 2010 in the light flyweight when he at the Summer Youth Olympic Games of Singapore was eliminated only in the final against Ryan Burnett and won silver. In December 2010 he was runner-up at the Azerbaijani Championships in Baku.

He achieved a surprising and at the same time significant success at the European Championships in Ankara in 2011 , when he won the European title in light flyweight with victories against Denis Kosaruk from Ukraine, Jérémy Beccu from France, Charlie Edwards from England and Belik Galanow from Russia. He became the first Azerbaijani European champion in 18 years and at almost 17 and a half years, also the youngest European champion in the last 81 years.

At the subsequent World Championships in 2011 in Baku , however, he was eliminated in the round of 16 against the Thai Kaew Pongprayoon from finished 9th. In November 2012, he won the flyweight with a final victory against the Turkish Ferhat Pehlivan , the University World Championships in Baku. The following month he also won the silver flyweight medal at the U22 European Championships in Kaliningrad . Among other things, he had defeated the German starter Hamza Touba before losing to the Russian Vasily Wetkin in the final.

In January 2013 he won the gold medal in the light flyweight division at the Azerbaijani Championships in Baku and also took part in this weight class at the 2013 European Championships in Minsk , where he was eliminated in the semifinals against Paddy Barnes from Ireland and won bronze. In October he also started at the 2013 World Championships in Almaty , where he finished 9th again after losing in the round of 16 against Kim In-kyu from South Korea.

In 2014 and 2015 he again won the Azerbaijani light flyweight championship.
