Salmo farioides is a species from the family of salmon fish (salmonids), which in the Balkans from Zrmanja to Mornos ( Croatia , Bosnia and Herzegovina , Montenegro , Albania , Macedonia ) and possibly in the Greek Alfios , the main river of the peninsula Peloponnese , occurs.
features
Salmo farioides reaches a length of up to 30 centimeters, with 44 to 50% of the standard length in front of the dorsal fin and 73 to 80% in front of the anal fin . The gill trap has 18 to 21 thorns. Different populations differ morphologically, which is why the species is possibly polyphyletic .
Way of life
The species inhabits rapids and fast flowing, clear, cold streams and areas around waterfalls. Almost nothing is known about the way of life. The species is considered to be low endangered.
