Salvador Imperatore Marcone (born March 11, 1950 ) is a former Chilean football referee .

Life

Imperatore Marcone suffered a stroke in October 2008 . The trained chemical and civil engineer was employed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the referee committee at the national league association Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (ANFP) and taught at the Instituto Nacional del Fútbol (INAF).

Career

On July 10, 1983 Imperatore Marcone headed his first game in the Chilean Primera División with the goalless game Audax Italiano La Florida against CD Trasandino de Los Andes . At the beginning of 1986 he was appointed FIFA referee and was henceforth authorized to direct football matches at international level. At the highest South American club competition Copa Libertadores , the Chilean has made seventeen appearances since 1988, on August 30, 1995, he led the final second leg for the Copa Libertadores 1995 between the Colombian representative Atlético Nacional and the Brazilian club Grêmio Porto Alegre (1-1).

In the 1991 Women's World Cup , Imperatore Marcone headed the opening game between China and Norway (4-0) and two other games on November 16, 1991 . The Chilean also made two appearances at the U-17 World Cup in 1993 , headed two group games and three games at the 1995 Copa America , including the game for third place , at the second edition of the King Fahd Cup in January 1995 Colombia and the United States (4: 1). In addition, Imperatore Marcone was at the Copa America 1991 several times as a line judge . The Chilean was nominated as a substitute referee for the 1994 World Cup .

Imperatore Marcone lost his international status at the end of 1995 when he reached the age limit of 45 for FIFA referees. In addition, he continued to lead games of the Primera División, the referee's last assignment on December 13, 1998 in the game between CD Cobreloa and Deportes Concepción (4-0).
