Sami Orpana (born February 28, 1990 in Lahti ) is a Finnish biathlete .

Sami Orpana is a student and lives in Lahti. He competes for Lahden Hiihtoseura and is trained by Jonne Kähkönen. In 2007 he took part in a major event for the first time as part of the Junior World Championships in summer biathlon in Otepää . In the cross sprint he finished 23rd, with Mari Laukkanen , Susanna Porela and Teppo Karjalainen in the cross-country mixed relay eighth. Orpana finished 18th in the sprint and 20th in the pursuit in the roller ski competitions. In the winter of 2008 he took part in the first junior biathlon world championship. In Ruhpolding he was 42nd in the individual, 12th in the sprint, 20th in the pursuit and 16th in the relay competition. For the first time in the performance area, Orpana was used at the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2009 in Oberhof with Laura Toivanen , Mari Laukkanen and Jori Rantahakala in the mixed relay, in which Finland took eleventh place. In the sprint, he was used in the junior competitions. Also in 2010 the Finn took part in the junior competitions of the Summer Biathlon World Championships in Duszniki-Zdrój and finished eleventh in the sprint and seventh in the pursuit.

After his relay race at the 2009 Summer Biathlon World Cup, Orpana was first used in the Biathlon World Cup towards the end of the 2009/10 season . He competed in his first sprint at Holmenkollen in Oslo and was 85. At the season finale in Khanty-Mansiysk , he achieved his best position to date in his second sprint with 79th place. He also took on the side of Mari Laukkanen, Kaisa Mäkäräinen and Marko Juhani Mänttäri at the Biathlon World Championships 2010 in part and has been with the Finnish relay 18. In Oberhof was the Finn in 2011 on the side of Jarkko Kauppinen , Timo Antila and Janne Kantanen for the first time with the men's relay and was 22.
