Samiullah Khan Dehlavi

Samiullah Khan Dehlavi (born September 14, 1913 in Kathiawar , Maharashtra , † September 5, 1976 in Bad Godesberg ) was a Pakistani diplomat .

Life

Dehlavi attended rugby school and studied Philosophy & Economics at the University of Oxford , where he received his bachelor's and master's degree in 1935 .

He joined the Indian Civil Service on October 24, 1938 and was employed in Bengal . In 1949 he joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan and was employed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan from 1950. From 1950 to 1953 he was a delegation counselor and at times chargé d' affaires in Paris . He then worked until 1957 as liaison secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After this activity he was ambassador to Rome until 1961 and at the same time accredited to the government in Tunis . From 1961 to 1963 Dehlavi was State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before he was accredited as ambassador to Cairo until 1965 and at the same time to the governments of Tripoli and Aden . From 1965 to 1966 he was ambassador in Bern and in 1966 he was also accredited to Enver Hoxha in Tirana . He was accredited from 1966 to 1968 as High Commissioner in London and at the same time as Ambassador to the government in Dublin . He was then ambassador to Paris until 1972, then until 1975 ambassador to Moscow . In 1972 he was a member of the Pakistani delegation in preparation for the World Conference against Racism . From June 27, 1975 until his death he was ambassador in Bad Godesberg .

In 1961 he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic , in 1967 he was awarded the Sitara-e-Pakistan (Star of Pakistan), and in 1971 he was awarded the Order of Hilal-e-Quaid-i-Azam . He married Genevieve Chantrenne in 1938, with whom he had two sons.
