Samuel Eck

Samuel Adalbert Eck (born December 28, 1856 in Saint Petersburg , † December 31, 1919 in Gießen ) was a Protestant theologian and Hessian politician ( DDP ) and a member of the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

Family and work

Samuel Eck was the son of the businessman Adalbert Eck and his wife Mary nee Stromberg. He married Ida Ludmilla, née Tobien (1865-1903) , on June 10, 1883 in Reval .

Samuel Eck studied Protestant theology at the University of Leipzig , the University of Tübingen , the University of Göttingen and the University of Gießen and completed his studies with a doctorate. From 1882 to 1883 he was vicar in St. Petersburg, from 1883 to 1885 pastor in Akkermann in Bessarabia . From 1885 to 1887 he worked as a provost adjunct and religion teacher in Odessa . From 1887 to 1899 he was pastor in Rumpenheim , from 1899 to 1903 in Offenbach am Main and from 1903 to 1904 city pastor in Darmstadt . From 1904 to 1919 he taught as professor of theology at the University of Giessen. He was a member of the regional synod and was appointed a secret council of churches in 1913 .

Samuel Eck was a member of the state parliament for a short time in 1919. On April 1, 1919, he resigned from the state parliament. His successor was Wilhelm Loos .
