Samuel Goldwyn Junior

Samuel Goldwyn junior (born September 7, 1926 in Los Angeles , California - † January 9, 2015 there ) was an American film producer .

Life

Samuel Goldwyn Jr. was the son of actress Frances Howard and film producer Samuel Goldwyn and was born in Los Angeles. He attended Fountain Valley School in Colorado Springs , Colorado . As soon as he followed in his father's footsteps as a film producer, he founded The Samuel Goldwyn Company and the Samuel Goldwyn Films film production company . In 1964 he directed a film for the only time in Die Saat der Liebe . For the film Master & Commander - Until the End of the World , he was nominated for an Oscar and a BAFTA award for best film in 2004. In 1988 he won an Emmy for the Academy Awards Production of the Year .

In 1950 Goldwyn married Jennifer Howard , daughter of the well-known playwright and screenwriter Sidney Howard . Goldwyn Jr. and Howard, who separated in 1966, had four children together, including actor Tony Goldwyn and studio manager John Goldwyn . Goldwyn Jr. married a second time, Peggy Elliot , with whom he had two children. He died on January 9, 2015 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in his hometown of Los Angeles at the age of 88 from complications of heart failure .
