San Andres is a Filipino municipality in the island province of Catanduanes . It has 36,779 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 38 barangays . The community is described as partially urban and belongs to the third income bracket of the communities in the Philippines. San Andres is located approx. 351 km southeast of the capital of the Philippines Manila and 14 km west of the provincial capital Virac .

San Andres is the westernmost community on the island and has a hilly to mountainous topography in which the nature and water reserve Catanduanes Watershed Forest Reserve with its extensive rainforest stands is located. The highest point is Mount Tamboo, which is 704 meters high.

The climate of the island of Catanduanes is classified as Type II, with no pronounced dry or rainy season, the heaviest rainfall falls from October to December. The community is located within the Typhon Belt in the Philippines.
