San Miguel is a Filipino municipality in the island province of Catanduanes . It has 15,006 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 24 barangays . The community is described as partially urban and belongs to the fifth income bracket of the communities in the Philippines. San Miguel is located about 371 km southeast of the capital of the Philippines Manila and 10 km northeast of the provincial capital Virac .

San Miguel has a hilly to mountainous topography in which the nature and water protection area Catanduanes Watershed Forest Reserve with its extensive rainforest stands is located.

The climate of the island of Catanduanes is classified as Type II, with no pronounced dry or rainy season, the heaviest rainfall falls from October to December. The community is located within the Typhon Belt in the Philippines.
