Viga is a Filipino municipality in the island province of Catanduanes . It has 21,624 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 31 barangays . The community is described as partially urban and belongs to the fourth income bracket of communities in the Philippines. Viga is located about 365 km southeast of the capital of the Philippines Manila and 35 km northeast of the provincial capital Virac .

Viga has a hilly to mountainous topography in which the nature and water protection area of Catanduanes Watershed Forest Reserve with its extensive rainforest stands is located.

The climate of Viga is classified as Type II, with no pronounced dry or rainy season, the heaviest rainfall falls from October to December. The community is located within the Typhon Belt in the Philippines.
