San Antonio del Sur is a city and a municipality in southeastern Cuba and belongs to the Guantánamo province .

geography

The municipality of San Antonio del Sur has a total area of ​​584.94 km². It is bounded in the south by the Caribbean and the Atlantic Ocean . San Antonio del Sur is surrounded by the Municipios Caimanera in the east, Manuel Tames in the northeast, Yateras in the northeast, Baracoa in the northwest and Imías in the west.

From the mountains of the “Puriales de Caujerí” the river “Sabanalamar” makes its way into the “Bahía de Sabanalamar”. Cuba's largest river, the "Río Toa" flows through the northwestern part of the municipality. In the west, the “Yateras” river flows into the Caribbean in the “Punta Conde de Jaruco” area. To the east of the town of San Antonio del Sur rises the "Pan de Azúcar", a mountain protected as an outstanding landscape element.

The municipality of San Antonio del Sur is one of the most wooded areas in the province.

San Antonio del Sur is crossed by the well-developed Carretera Central road near the coast. It allows the community a good connection to the provincial capital Guantánamo and the city of Baracoa, which is interesting for individual travelers. A smaller road leads inland.
