Yateras is a municipality in southeastern Cuba and belongs to the Guantánamo province . The administrative seat of the municipality is located in Palenque.

geography

The municipality of Yateras has a total area of 625.34 km². It borders the province of Holguín in the north and connects to the Municipio Baracoa in the east, San Antonio del Sur in the southeast, Manuel Tames in the south and the provincial capital Guantánamo in the west .

Attractions

About 24 km from Guantánamo on the Finca San Lorenzo is the open-air museum "Museo Zoológico de Piedra". The sculptor Ángel Iñigo Blanco, who comes from a farming family, has been creating a park there since 1977 made of stone figures depicting animal species. For example, lions, snakes, tapirs, buffaloes, rhinos and gorillas are presented to visitors.
