The Catholic parish church of San Martín in Oliván , a place in the municipality of Biescas in the province of Huesca of the Spanish Autonomous Community of Aragon , was built around 1060 and is one of the Romanesque churches of the historic Serrablo region . In the 1980s, the building was extensively renovated on the initiative of the Amigos de Serrablo association and with the support of the villagers. In 1982 the church was declared a monument ( Bien de Interés Cultural ) with other churches in the region .

architecture

Exterior construction

The church is built from medium-sized stone blocks. The original structure consisted of a single nave , a choir with a semicircular apse and a tower on the north side of the nave . The apse is structured by seven blind arcades that rest on pilaster strips . Under the roof approach, a wider, between two bead extends cornices embedded and round bars formed Fries . Three narrow, loopholed windows are cut into the apse. The undivided tower has a square floor plan. Presumably it originally also had triple windows like the churches of Lárrede and Gavín , but these were replaced in the 16th century by the large arched sound openings on the east and south sides.

inner space

In the 16th century, the side aisle was also added to the southern nave. The nave wall was opened to the side aisle through a wide arch. Like the main nave, the aisle has a wooden beam ceiling, the apse is covered by a dome . The aisle closes in the east with a straight wall and is vaulted parallel to the apse dome by a painted barrel .
