San Silvestre is a town in the Pando Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
San Silvestre is a village in the canton of Chivé in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Filadelfia in the province of Manuripi and is located at an altitude of 202 m . San Silvestre is at the intersection of the Route 16 with the Río Manuripi , which joins the Río Tahuamanu to the Río Orthon , a tributary to the Río Beni , 335 kilometers further downstream .

San Silvestre is located in the Bolivian part of the Amazon basin , northeast of the foothills of the Peruvian Cordillera Oriental in the tropical rainy climate of the equatorial zone .
The mean average temperature of the region is almost 26 ° C and fluctuates only insignificantly during the year and during the day, only in the dry winter months from June to August it is slightly lower due to the nocturnal heat radiation with open cloud cover (see Porvenir climate diagram). The annual precipitation is around 1,900 mm and during the rainy season shows monthly values between 150 and 300 mm for more than half of the year, only in the short dry season from June to August does the precipitation drop to monthly values below 50 mm.
Transport network
San Silvestre is 115 kilometers by road south of Cobija , the capital of the Pando department.
From Cobija, the paved road Ruta 13 leads south to Porvenir and from there further east towards Guayaramerín and Riberalta . The city of Porvenir is the northern end point of the 1,036 kilometer long Ruta 16 , which from here reaches San Silvestre after 82 kilometers and continues south to Chivé . A connection to the southern part of the Ruta 16 via Ixiamas to Apolo and on to Charazani and Huarina is currently only planned.

The population of the village was at the 2001 census at 27 inhabitants. Older or more recent data are currently not available. Since the number of inhabitants in the canton of Chivé fell from 1227 to 898 inhabitants between the last two censuses in 1992 and 2001, the population trend for San Silvestre is more likely to be negative than positive.
