The municipality of Filadelfia (also: Arroyo Grande ) is a district in the Pando department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality Filadelfia is one of three municipalities in the province of Manuripi and includes its western area. It is bordered by the Republic of Peru to the west, the La Paz department to the south, the Puerto Rico municipality to the east , and the Nicolás Suárez province to the north : from east to west by the municipality of Bella Flor , the municipality of Porvenir and the municipality Bolpebra .

The municipality extends between about 11 ° 28 'and 12 ° 29' south latitude and 68 ° 00 'and 69 ° 15' west longitude, its extent from west to east and from north to south is up to 140 kilometers.

The municipality comprises 67 municipalities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the Comunidad Filadelfia with 368 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) on the northern edge of the district.

The municipality of Filadelfia is located in the Bolivian part of the Amazon basin , north-east of the foothills of the Peruvian Cordillera Oriental , in the tropical rainy climate of the equatorial zone.

The mean average temperature of the region is just under 26 ° C and fluctuates only insignificantly in the course of the year as well as in the course of the day; in the dry winter months from June to August alone it is slightly lower due to the nocturnal heat radiation with open cloud cover (see Porvenir climate diagram). The annual precipitation is around 1,900 mm and during the rainy season shows monthly values between 150 and 300 mm for more than half of the year, only in the short dry season from June to August does the precipitation drop to monthly values below 50 mm.

The population density at the last census of 2012 was 0.5 inhabitants / km², the literacy rate among those over 6 years of age has improved from 73.8 percent ( 1992 ) to 84.4 percent ( 2001 ). The life expectancy of newborns in 2001 was 61.4 years, while infant mortality had improved from 8.7 percent ( 1992 ) to 7.4 percent in 2001.

97.7 percent of the population speak Spanish , 1.3 percent speak Quechua, and 0.7 percent speak Aymara . ( 2001 )

87.6 percent of the population have no access to electricity , 33.4 percent live without sanitary facilities . ( 2001 ) 60.0 percent of the total of 590 households have a radio, 3.2 percent a television, 28.8 percent a bicycle, 9.5 percent a motorcycle, 2.4 percent a car, 1.0 percent a refrigerator, and 0 percent a phone.
