Sancho and Pancho (original title originally The Tijuana Toads , later Texas Toads ) is an American animated series that was produced by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises and published by United Artists from 1969 to 1972 . Thomas Keck wrote the German dialogues . When the English-language original version of the television series was broadcast from 1976 as part of the original of The Pink Panther , The Pink Panther Show , the name was changed to Texas Toads for reasons of political correctness . The frogs were also given new names.
action
The two cheeky close friend Frogs Sancho and Pancho from the border region Mexico Texas fear every day about being eaten by birds. They usually spend their time trying to catch grasshoppers , flies and other insects and have a siesta in between . However, they are rarely successful and often become the hunted themselves: either a stupid yellow crane (in the original: Crazy Leg Crane ) is after them or their life is supposed to end in the saucepan of a French cook, but also disturb other frogs or Japanese fighting beetles their neat rest.
main characters
- Sancho (originally Poncho , later Fatso in the original English version ): Sancho is a fat and loud-mouthed wise talker.
- Pancho (in the English-language original version originally Toro, later Banjo ): Pancho, on the other hand, is the spindly "dumbfrog" (a running gag ) who is loyal to Sancho, which he often uses shamelessly.
Supporting characters are: Texas grasshopper, yellow crane, Pedro the cook, karate beetle, cat Diablo, blue sauser, little Sigfried, crocodile mom and the crocodile kids, sheriff, cactus Cassius, frogess Flora
