Sandro Carlo Cortez Viana de Aguilar (born May 14, 1973 in Luanda , Angola ) is a Portuguese film producer , film director and film editor .

Career

After graduating from the Lisbon Film School ( ESTC - Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema ), he founded the film production company O Som ea Fúria ("The Sound and the Wrath") at the beginning of 1998 , which has also been distributing its productions since 2003. She became an important factor in the Portuguese short film, but also produced feature films such as the surprise hit "Aquele Querido Mês de Agosto" ("That beloved month of August", 2008) by Miguel Gomes .

Aguilar's main focus is on short films. He made a number of short films himself, in which he was particularly noticeable for his poetic film and sound language. His works won various prizes, including a. at the Locarno Film Festival , the Venice Biennale , and the Curtas Vila do Conde , the short film festival in Vila do Conde . Aguilar then took over the editing of a number of short films, not just for his own production company. His short film Mercúrio won the main prize at the Oberhausen Short Film Festival 2011 .
